Church Street and Vineyard Street are getting a much-needed facelift during Phase 1A of the Wailuku Town improvement projects. Work will include:

  • Upgraded water and sewer lines

  • New storm drain system

  • Overhead power and telecom lines placed underground

  • New sidewalks on both sides of Church Street and Lower Vineyard Street

  • New sidewalks on Waikapu side of Upper Vineyard Street

  • Church Street changed from one-way street to two-way street

  • Traffic signal added at intersection of Main and Church Streets

  • Street trees planted

  • New road surface installed

  • During construction, a one lane access will be open at all times

Church Street

August 2019 - January 2020

Construction on Church Street will begin this August and will take approximately 6 months to complete with work starting from Main Street heading up to Vineyard Street. During this time, the Municipal Parking Lot will be open.

Lower Vineyard Street

January 2020 - June 2020

On Lower Vineyard Street, construction is scheduled to begin in January 2020 and is anticipated to take 6 months to complete with crews starting from Market Street working towards Church Street. During this time, parking will be available at Wells Park(free shuttle service available) and portions of the Municipal Parking Lot will be open.

Upper Vineyard Street

June 2020 - November 2020

Construction on Upper Vineyard Street is slated to begin in June 2020 and will take approximately 6 months to complete with work starting from Church Street up to High Street. During this time, parking will be available at Wells Park(free shuttle service available) and portions of the Municipal Parking Lot will be open. 

A reduction in parking stalls will occur on Church and Vineyard Streets as a result of the construction improvements.
